How to: SPRINKLE SHOES!!

and I saw that she was selling her shoes on Etsy for $166!!! Ha! Let me assure you that I did not spend even close to that amount when I made these shoes!! (Also her shoes are a classic pump and I really wanted a shoe with a platform just to make sure there wouldn't be any creasing.) The most expensive part for me was the shoes BUT I did manage to find these adorable black pumps at Target in the clearance section for $8.25! Then I had like $2 for the sprinkles plus some mod podge and the clear spray paint (which was free because my parents had a random can in the basement) and I had the black lace left over from a previous project. So these are very cheap (and very easy) to make! And they're friggin' adorable.

So this is what the shoes looked like originally. (You can also see the green glitter shoes in the upper left hand corner that my sister-in-law was making!) Before I started any glueing or sprinkling, I taped everything off where I didn't want to get glue and then I roughed it up a bit with some sand paper just so the glue had something to grab on to. I believe I used 80 grit sandpaper for that. Then I only glued a section at a time and put the sprinkles on. I found that it was easier to dump the sprinkles out on a plate and then press the glued shoe onto them rather than sprinkling the sprinkles onto the shoe. If that made sense haha! I also put a paper towel on the inside of the shoe to try to keep the sprinkles out of that area (even though some did find their way in!)

When I came across an open spot where the sprinkles didn't quite stick like the one pictured here, I just used a toothpick, dipped it in mod podge, and then pressed that spot into the plate of sprinkles.

And here is what they looked like all sprinkled up! After this I used a clear spray paint that sealed the sprinkles in. I did this because 1.) I didn't want any sprinkles falling off and 2.) I didn't want the colors to run if they were to get wet somehow. I put a few coats of the sealant on and I think it worked very well.

And there they are! I added the little lace detail with some hot glue and I think it makes them even cuter!

 I've only worn them once so far and all the sprinkles seem to be holding up pretty good. If they stay on long enough I'm sure I'll be wearing them to my wedding! Which is exactly 627 days away. In case you were wondering. :) Have a happy Tuesday!
